How to Web Slingshot in Marvel's Spider-Man 2

If you want to go from a dead stop to supersonic speeds in a flash, you need to use the Web Slingshot. This move lets Peter and Miles anchor themselves to the environment, pull back like a rubber band, and launch themselves across the city map. It is the perfect way to build instant speed before opening your Web Wings.

Here is how to execute a perfect Web Slingshot on your PS5.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Find a good spot: Stand still on a flat surface, ideally a high rooftop with clear open space in front of you.

  2. Hold the buttons: Press and hold down both the L1 button and the Cross button (X) at the exact same time.

  3. Watch the charge: Spider-Man will shoot two web lines to nearby structures and pull his body backward. Keep holding the buttons down until he stops pulling back and the controller vibrations peak.

  4. Release to fly: Let go of both buttons. You will be violently catapulted forward across the skyline!

Super Slingshot Locations

While you can perform a basic Web Slingshot almost anywhere on foot, the game features special Super Slingshot launchpads scattered across New York City.

You can spot these on top of certain high buildings—they look like two glowing yellow towers or poles. Standing between them and holding L1 + X will activate a Super Slingshot, which throws you twice as far and twice as fast as a standard launch. It is the absolute quickest way to cross the rivers between islands!

Pro Tip: Immediately after releasing your slingshot, press the Triangle button to open your Web Wings. The massive velocity from the launch carries over, letting you glide across entire neighborhoods in seconds.

How to Use Web Wings in Marvel's Spider-Man 2

The Web Wings are one of the biggest additions to Marvel's Spider-Man 2, allowing Peter and Miles to glide seamlessly over the rooftops of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. It completely changes how you explore New York City, especially when crossing wide areas like the East River where there are no buildings to swing from.

Here is how to deploy your Web Wings and maintain high-speed flight on your PS5.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Get some height: Launch yourself into the air using a standard swing, a Charge Jump, or by leaping off a tall building.

  2. Deploy the wings: While free-falling in mid-air, press the Triangle button on your DualSense controller. Peter or Miles will instantly open their Web Wings and begin gliding.

  3. Steer your glide: Use the Left Stick to steer. Pull back to glide gently upward (though you will lose speed), and push forward to dive down and gain momentum.

  4. Close the wings: If you want to drop down or transition back into a web-swing, simply press the Triangle button again or hold R2 to shoot a web line.

How to Fly Indefinitely: Wind Tunnels & Updrafts

Gliding normally will cause you to slowly lose altitude and speed. To fly across the map without touching the ground, look out for these environmental boosts:

  • Wind Tunnels: These are large, swirling rings of wind floating in the air, usually positioned between skyscrapers or across the rivers. Glide directly into them to get massive speed boosts and automatic steering along a fast-travel pathway.

  • Updrafts: Look for green-tinted exhaust vents on top of buildings. Gliding over these will shoot you straight up into the air, restoring your lost altitude so you can keep flying.

Pro Tip: Keep an eye on your mini-map and HUD while gliding! Wind tunnels and updrafts are marked with faint green aerodynamic lines, making them easy to spot from a distance.

How to Point Launch in Marvel's Spider-Man 2

If you want to cross New York City like a bullet, you need to master the Point Launch. While standard web-swinging is great, a Point Launch lets you zip to a specific structure and instantly catapult yourself forward with a massive burst of speed.

Here is how to time it perfectly on your PS5.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Look for a perch: As you fly or swing through the city, look at the edges of buildings, water towers, lampposts, or antennas.

  2. Aim at the point: When a valid spot is in your view, you will see a small circle icon appear over it. Press and hold L2 + R2 together to zip straight toward it.

  3. Time your launch: Right before Spider-Man’s feet actually touch the perch, press the Cross button (X).

If you time it correctly, you won't stop at all. Instead, you will sling yourself off the edge, gaining a massive, instant speed boost into your next swing or Web Wing glide.

Mastering the Point Launch Boost

Timing is everything here. If you press X too early, you'll just do a standard zip. If you don't press X at all, Spider-Man will land on the perch and lose all his momentum.

Pro Tip: Keep an eye on your skills menu! You can upgrade your traversal tree to unlock the Point Launch Boost skill. This increases the distance and speed of your launch significantly, making it one of the fastest ways to travel across the map.
